$70 Saved Today - Sept 9, 2011

I had some great shopping experiences today.

1) I saw that Babies R Us had Huggies Jeans diapers on sale for $5. Many folks across the country had a $2 off any Huggies diapers coupon in the paper ~1 month ago. Unfortunately, we only got a $1.50 coupon here.  I cut out my 4 coupons for $1.50, but also cut out the $3 off Huggies Slip-Ons, just in case those were on some sort of great sale too.

I went to Babies R Us a couple of minutes before they opened, as, sure enough, there was already a (little) line.  Only two of us were there for the diapers, though.  This store did not carry thee Jeans diapers, so we asked if they'd substitute.  They did! They let the two of us get the Slip-Ons for the same $5 price.  I was able to use the $3 coupons instead of the $1.50 coupons and get each pack for $2!  Regular price: $11.99.

I got 4 packs total:
Regular price: $11.99x4 = $47.96
My price: $8+tax = $8.66 (8.3 cents each for size 3, 9.4 cents each for size 4)

Savings: $40+tax!

I actually used a gift card from my sister, so I paid $0 out of my own pocket.
$8.66 for 98 diapers!
2) I also went to Target to exchange this comforter set I bought a couple of weeks ago. When I bought it, it was on clearance for $34.98.  I finally opened it last night only to realize that the sheet set was missing from the package!  Well, when I went to exchange it, there were no more left of the exact same pattern. Instead, I got a similar pattern.  Though still marked $34.98, it rang up for $24.98!

Savings: $10+tax!

3) Later, I went to Best Buy to pick up a tablet pc I'd purchased online. While there, I also grabbed a basic Sony DVD player for $39.99.  I waited in line forever (at least 20 minutes), but during that time, I used the ShopSavvy app on my phone to scan the barcode of the DVD player. I mainly wanted to verify that it was $5 cheaper at bestbuy.com than it was in the store.  However, I saw that at Toys-R-Us, it was $19.98! I asked the cashier to price match and she did!

Savings: $20+tax!

  1. Wow! That was so smart to ask them to substitute... I didn't even THINK of that! I called and my store didn't have them, so I'm just going to have Wal-Mart price match... Great job :)

  2. Hopefully you'll find them at Walmart. I tried to pricematch at target earlier but they no longer carried the jeans diapers.

  3. Yeah, I only found 2 packages of them at Walmart - they were size 5, but oh well, Aaron will get that big one day!

I DID try to get Babies'R'Us to substitute but they said no. :( Which Babies'R'Us did you go to? I still have 4 $1.50/1 coupons that expire today!

  4. I went to the Babies R Us on Westheimer a bit west of Fountainview. But the supervisor said he was only doing it for the two of us who were there when the store opened, so don't beat yourself up for missing it.

At least you got some from WalMart!

And regarding the size, I got sizes 3 and 4. I don't even know when my future baby will get to those sizes.
